Dear parents and students,

The province announced that in Toronto, the shutdown measures and the Stay-at-Home order will remain in place for at least another two weeks. Since our Winter Term finishes on the week of March 8th, we have made the decision to keep the remaining classes of the current term ONLINE. Hopefully we will be able to reopen for Spring Term which starts March 22nd. Please follow our Facebook or Instagram to stay updated. As we adapt to this new normal, please be patient with us.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Stay safe!

Dear parents and students,

Here is an update on our Winter Term programs. Ontario has extended stay-at-home order until Monday, February 22 for Toronto, Peel and York regions. Final decisions will be subject to review of the trends in public health indicators at that time. Once the stay-at-home order is lifted the regions will subsequently be placed in the appropriate colour-coded category in the existing five-tier reopening framework. Our art lab will then be allowed to reopen at limited capacity. Can’t wait to see all the smiley faces in our studio again. But until then, let’s create arts together while staying apart.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Stay safe!

Dear parents and students,

2021 isn’t off to a great start, but our hope and resilience will lead us past darkness. JR Art Lab send love and light to all.

Here is an update on our Winter Term programs. Provincial government has extended emergency order, which will now remain in effect until February 19th. Our studio will stay closed in alignment with the emergency regulations to curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus. All our classes will continue to be delivered online. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in the studio soon, but until then we will create digital arts together while staying apart! We want to express our appreciation to everyone for the support and understanding during these difficult times.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Stay safe!

Dear parents and students,

Happy New Year! Thanks for joining our Winter Term programs. With the current lockdown restrictions, there is a lot changes that small businesses like us have to figure out. Following the government guidelines and keeping our community safe is our top priority at this point.

For the first week of winter term (4th – 10th), all our programs will be running online via Skype as scheduled. Our storefront will remain closed. In the meantime, we will find out if studios with in-person instruction are allowed to open during lockdown. We will let you know as soon as we have further information. In light of Toronto entering ‘red zone’ today, we wanted to provide you with an update on our response to date and our commitment to you moving forward.

First and foremost, we want to assure our guests that we are taking all appropriate measures to ensure our studio is disinfected and hygienic. We have been, and will continue to take the temperature of everyone entering the studio. Masks or face coverings are required inside our studio. Please also ensure 6 feet physical distancing indoors.

All our workshops including Fall Term programs will run as scheduled. Since we always focus on small class sizes, our studio will not have more than 10 people at any time. We have also been conducting Hybrid classes (combing online and onsite) for some streams this term. If you have a strong concern about your child, we can switch them to online learning if possible. If you would like to contact us please email us at info@jrartlab.com.

If you have any symptoms of COVID-19, live with someone who has COVID-19 symptoms or have been in contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case, its really important that you do not visit the studio and follow the current self isolation Government guidelines. We’ll welcome you back as soon as it is safe to do so. For more information on COVID-19 safety protocols, please visit our website. Stay safe. Remember, we are in this together!

WE ARE REOPENING OUR STUDIO IN SEPTEMBER! Registration for Fall Term IN PERSON programs is now open online. Please check out our studio class schedule (click HERE) for more details.

We recognize parents are anxious and concerned about ensuring a safe return to school, we plan to have at least one online class for each major stream. After we have bookings for the on-site classes, we will repurpose some empty blocks for online classes.

Our focus when planning our reopen has been on providing the same quality of digital art programs as you usually expect but by implementing a few changes to ensure the well being of both our customers and staff.

Here are just a few of the changes you can expect to see when you next visit:

Friends and Family – Currently we’re asking you not to visit the Studio with friends, children or family who not having a workshop that day. This will help us to better manage social distancing in the Studio. Please email info@jrartlab.com or call the studio on +1 416 6907471.

Queuing – It will be necessary that you queue outside the Studio for a few minutes if the Studio is busy. We’ll be taking the temperature of everyone entering the studio and we thank you in advance for your patience. Please wait quietly outside before the start of your workshop.

Sanitize – Students will be asked to sanitize their hands when you enter the Studio. Computer workstations will be sanitized between classes.

Social Distancing  We are promoting social distancing in our Studio with 2m spread between students. Computer workstations are two metres apart to ensure physical distancing measures.

Maximum Capacity  To help us stick to social distancing guidelines, we are limiting the number of students in each Studio session to 5. If you would like to enquire about the moving to a smaller session please let us know or check out our Creative Coaching program (click here).

Opening hours – From 1st September, we will revert back to our original opening hours for The Beaches Studio. Monday – Thursday 2pm – 9pm. Saturday & Sunday 2pm – 9pm.

Cleaning – We are an art studio so sometimes things can get messy here, but we have recently amped up our cleaning routines even further in light of COVID-19. This means that it may take a couple of minutes longer for our Studio to prepare your workshop before your session. Please be patient. Studio computers and devices will also be wiped with alcohol between sessions. If you wish to work with your own laptop at this time please let us know in advance.

Payment – Where possible, please complete your payment online upon booking. You can choose either e-Transfer or credit card as your payment method. Please do not bring cash into the studio.

Customer Toilets – Customer toilet facilities will be open for hand washing with soap throughout the class. Students will be encouraged to wash their hands should they need to share any equipments.

Face masks and coverings – The Government have now confirmed that face masks are a legal requirement in our Studio. This move is intended to support the fight against COVID-19, we would like to encourage our customers to wear a face mask or covering at all times. Students without a face covering will not be permitted to enter.

Symptoms – If you have any symptoms of COVID-19, live with someone who has COVID-19 symptoms or have been in contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case, its really important that you do not visit the Studio and follow the current self isolation Government guidelines. We’ll welcome you back as soon as it is safe to do so.

So, whilst your visit may be a little different to start with, you can be sure that you’ll get the same level of creative workshops that you’d usually expect.

If you have any questions, please just drop us an email to admin@jrartlab.com or message us on any of our social media channels.

See you soon!

It’s about time to bring back our VR Art Lab! Since March, we have adapted to the pandemic. One of the programs that we had to put on hold is #JrVrArtist.

Students’ health and safety is always our priority. Our storefront has remained closed for over 4 months to do our part in the fight against covid19. As school is reopening in September, we decide to offer on-site workshops for Fall Term. Stay tuned for more details about our after school programs registration and reopening schedule. Can’t wait to have you all back to our little art space.

We have launched our LIVE ONLINE SUMMER WORKSHOPS! Thanks everyone for the feedback regarding our previous post about summer camp suggestions. The majority of families prefer online workshops and we listened. Keeping children healthy and safe is our priority.

Ontario has extended the state of emergency for four more weeks. This fight isn’t over. We are happy to provide creative programs for children to continue learning at home.

For people who have booked our in-person summer camps early this year, we will contact you for further action. In appreciation of the support we have been given in the Spring Term, we will send regular program students from the streams (Jr Digital Artist, Jr Designer, Jr 3D Artist, Jr Filmmaker, Jr Photographer, Jr Documentarian) an email with a 10% discount code for your Summer Workshops booking.

Dear Community,

School year has now been officially cancelled. Please allow us some time to figure out our next step regarding Summer Camps. Current summer camps registration is paused. We would appreciate some suggestions. Would you join us if we start in-person camps from beginning of July? Or would you prefer online summer camps day classes? If later on you have to go back to the office for work, what are you planning with your kids? Please email us at info@jrartlab.com if you have any recommendations. Your insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks. sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused.

Dear Community,

We have been contacting everyone in our JR Art Lab community to chat about their educational needs during the social distancing period. If you have missed our call please contact us at 4166907471 or info@jrartlab.com if you would like to discuss. All existing parents we contacted were excited to continue with their kid’s digital art education with some looking for additional workshops. We are so grateful to be supported and be of use during this difficult time.

We have had a few calls from new parents looking for extra programs to provide education and entertainment in place of regular school. This allows parents to continue to work from home when their child is occupied and learning. As well as keeping some structure and goals in their daily routine.

At this stage we are encouraging everyone to get on board with online learning. Using www.skype.com we will deliver all our classes at the planned times/days.

Extra day programs is now OPEN for registration online at http://jrartlab.com/workshops/ to cover new populations looking for LIVE online digital art teaching.
– Digital Watercolor March 23-27 2-3pm
– Video Editing in Davinci Resolve March 23-27 12-1pm
– More details for future classes at the same times will be available as the weeks unfold.

Please be notified that our storefront will remain closed. Payment methods will be restricted to online(credit cards) and E-transfer. It is our belief that this social distancing period will most likely be extended beyond the 2 weeks currently scheduled. For this reason we think that moving our workshops and community online is a safer and longer lasting solution for everyone.

All small business are doing it tough right now and thankfully we have a wonderful community supporting us to support them. Thank you ..

We will also periodically offer free workshops from our social media to allow people extra activities where possible. We are a small team but we work hard. Keep an eye on Facebook or Instagram for more information. Links below

To our community,

With growing global concerns around COVID-19, we are working to ensure the health of our JR Artists in accordance with public safety guidelines. We wanted to provide you with an update on our response to date and our commitment to you moving forward.

First and foremost, we want to assure our guests that we are taking all appropriate measures to ensure our studio is disinfected and hygiene. We have been, and will continue to sanitize our studio regularly, with particular focus on high contact areas, from door handles to studio equipment. Extensive cleaning will be conducted during our studio closure between 16th to 20th. Our students have been asked to wash their hands before the commencement of every class. We will make sure everyone continues to follow this rule when Spring Term starts.

Following government recommendations on limiting social interactions with large groups of people, we have made the difficult decision to pause our community events (including D&D Club and Art Collective) until further notice. The health and well being of our neighbourhood is what matters to us at JR Art Lab at this moment.

Because we have a small class size (no more than 5 students in a class), our Spring Term will keep on running at scheduled dates. Our first Spring class starts Monday 23rd March.

If you have a strong concern about your child we will be providing live streaming, should you prefer your child to remain home and continue learning for the first two weeks of Spring Term. If you would like to contact us please email us at info@jrartlab.com.

Please also support our local businesses in the Kingston Road Village if you can during this period. It would be nice if we all made it through without fear of folding under lack of income and continued expenses for operation.

At JR Art Lab we encourage positive mental attitude in the face of difficulties. Making art can get really challenging. We hope that everyone will enjoy some respite from the regular routine and find some joy spending time together. Sometimes life is fast and we need to slow down to reflect on what’s important in our lives and what brings us lasting happiness.
